Dr. Bonnie Spear

Dr. Bonnie Spear is an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has over 27 years of experience working in pediatric nutrition. Her area of professional practice and research is child/adolescent obesity, eating disorders and sports nutrition. She has authored numerous book chapters on adolescent nutrition and is widely published in the field. Dr. Spear served as an expert consultant to the American Academy of Pediatrics and to the Society for Adolescent Medicine. In 2005, the American Medical Association selected Dr. Spear to serve as the chair of a group writing treatment recommendations for childhood obesity.
