16 "Why Didn't I Think of That" Ways to Soothe a Crying Baby
Dealing with a screaming baby can make you do crazy things—like calling your mother-in-law for advice. Put down the phone and read on.
1.
Head outside for a change of scenery.
3.
Use your pinky as a pacifier. Just make sure to wash your hands first.
4.
Bounce your baby on a
giant exercise ball. If you're feeling really ambitious, suck in your stomach while you do it to get some of your muscles back!
5.
Dance. The perfect opportunity to practice those "Dancing With the Stars" moves.
6.
Take baby for a car ride.
7.
Vacuum. If your baby likes the white noise, you might want to make a vacuum-sounds MP3—or just have really clean carpets.
8.
Lay your baby across your bare belly (or your partner's) for some skin-to-skin contact.
9.
Show him his screaming face in the mirror. If that doesn't crack him up ...
14.
Give your baby a bath.
15.
Your baby sometimes just wants a few minutes alone (sound familiar?). Put him down somewhere safe, and head into the other room for a breather.
