Pyro Assistant: You. |

Tempera Paint: In bright, vibrant, even neon (Hello 1980s!) colors |
Glitter |
Water |
Dark-colored (blue, brown or black) construction paper |
Paintbrush |
Drinking straw |
Measuring spoons |
Plastic cups or bowls for mixing paint |
Newspaper |
| 1 |
Cover your kid's workspace with newspaper to prevent "fireworks" from getting all over your floor.
| 2 |
Help your kid mix five tablespoons of paint with one tablespoon of water and a dash of glitter in a plastic cup or small bowl. Repeat for each color.
| 3 |
Using the paintbrush, have your kid put a dollop of mixed paint onto the construction paper.
| 4 |
Then have him hold a straw about 4 inches above the paint splotch and invite him to huff, puff and blow through the straw as hard as he can. The paint will go flying over the paper like a burst of fireworks.
| 5 |
Have your kid repeat steps 2 and 3 with different colors to create a vibrant fireworks display as you "Oooh!" and "Ahhh!", without having to hold your ears!
