Your Potty Training Tips
Report Abuse
My 3 year old is almost completly potty trained except for the fact that if she's wearing anything she goes in it. If she doesn't have on panties or a diaper she goes on her potty fine. We've tried the pull-ups thing but to her they're the same as the diapers. Any suggestions on how to break her of this habit?

I am pregnant & due in May 2010. My daughter is almost 3 and we've been training since 1 1/2. I am trying everything possible to get her out of diapers, because I would like to avoid the expense of having two children in diapers. She has officially mastered the "pee thing" in the potty. Whether naked or panties on, she tells me or rushes to the potty. It's the "poop thing" we can't seem to figure out. She gets scared or has a fit if I sit her on the potty when it's time to poop. She actually did poop two times in the potty before, but I am trying to get it permanently. Any tips or advice about what I'm doing?

I have a 4 year old(in 6 days) and twin 2 year olds. Caydence was incredibly hard to potty train, i started with her when she was 18 months and she was SUPER easy, i was like:"Jeez everybody told me this was so hard to do, what are they talking about?" Well then i went on bed rest in the hospital and the twins were born 11 weeks early so life didnt get back to normal for a very long time and all the potty training went down the drain (haha good choice of words) I didnt get her potty trained again until the middle of this summer(2009) and i was extremely frustrating. The twins are 2 now and Lydia is very interested in the potty but i think i am the one that needs encouragement. All i keep thinking is "well here we go again" Hopefully it wont end up being the same story times 2!

my son is 2 1/2 and i let him go naked and he will pee and poop in the potty... as long as he's naked. if he has a pull up on he will just go. i dont know how to get him to keep clothes on and just take it off when he needs to..

Ok, here's a funny one. My daughter is REVERSED! She is a poopy-pro! Since she was 9 months old she has a habit of needing to poop very soon after eating and it's often DURING bathtime! So, she would grunt a little and I would take her out of the bath and put her on the potty! Now, she's a pro at pooping! I havent had to change a poopy diaper (at home) in quite a while! She even grunts BEFORE she tries to poop now to let me know that she needs to go and we got to the potty. It's funny to say "go poo-poo" and watch her grunt away! LOL But, the hard part is getting her to figure out the pee-pee part! She just doesn't get it! She'll stop in mid stride to lean over a little and pee. She even gets that Deer-In-the-Headlights look.... I try to rush her to the potty and no such luck.... I'm gonna try the scheduling process but my biggest issue is she's a drinker! She drinks ALL DAY LONG! She's always thirsty, so it's hard to get a schedule down! UGH! I don't know who potty trainings harder on! LOL

I am a Grandmother to 3 (Austin-11yr)(Korey-4yr)(Maddie-3yr) and I am very proud to say that each child was potty-trained by the age of 32 months old by using a very basic trick I learned w/my own children. Once the child is up and walking and they show any interest in the potty I simple take a day and let them run around naked. It didn't take once or twice of them (tinkling) for them to figure out where it comes from and the sensation of fixing to go for them to start telling me that they had go (tinkle). Once they had figured out the wetting part the bowel movement was easy.
So far to date the 2 youngest have had a total of 3 (accidents) One of which was my fault didn't get them to a restroom quick enough.
