Black History Month Book

Bring back the bedtime story during Black History Month. Buy or borrow a copy of the Newberry Award-winning book Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry and read a few pages each night. The story offers a kid's account of what it was like to be black in rural Mississippi during the 1930s. Your kids will be able to relate to the characters, and you'll be able to make some amends for never reading that novel you were assigned for your eighth-grade book report.
