Can't take another round of "Mommy, mommy bo-bommy. Banana-fana fo-fommy"? Have your little one turn down the volume but stay in the rhyme zone with this (quietly!) spoken brain teaser game involving words that sound alike.
- Rhyme maker:You
- Rhyme corrector:Your kid
Say a simple sentence, but change the last word to one that rhymes with the one you want to say, For example: "Say night-night, it's time for bread" (instead of bed).
Ask your child to call out the right word, e.g., "bed!" Kids love correcting their parents. (And that's never gonna end. Just wait until he's a teen!)
Trade places. Ask your child to come up with a rhyming word and correct him. Not only are you giving his vocabulary a workout, you may be grooming a future rap star with this game. Move over Jay-Z, here comes Lil' Cray-Z!
