Compose Your Family's Theme Music

Rock on with your own theme song!

Your kids are creative artists at heart, so sit down together and write a song that represents your family! It can be cute, sweet or just plain wacky—sometimes the sillier, the better.

Win the family reunion touch football game? Sing YOUR song! Kid rocks out during a piano recital? Sing YOUR song! Got a parking ticket picking up the kids from school? Um, well, go ahead—SING YOUR SONG!

Get the family together and jot down everyone's lyrical thoughts. If you need a kick-start, try coming up with the melody from one of your favorite songs (like Ziggy's Family Time at iTunes). Rhyme the name of each person in the family with a fun fact, for example, "Our mommy's name is Ann, she drives a minivan. Usually she makes a home-cooked meal, but sometimes it's from a can!"

Once you get going, make up a fun verse for everyone so each kid (and parent) gets a chance to be the star. Who wouldn't want to be the subject in a rockin' song?

If your inner-Bono is failing you and you're just not moved by words, tap someone else's and throw your family name in there. Shout out some, "We are fam-i-ly, I got all my Marleys with me! We are fam-i-ly, get up all you Marleys and SING!" Doesn't matter if you pen your song like Ziggy himself or just need to borrow a pop lyricists' words—the idea here is to bond with your kiddies through music and have some family fun, so sing it loud and sing it proud
