Should they just sit & watch t.v?

My niece Matilda recently celebrated her third birthday. I brought her a Ariel (Little Mermaid) dress & the dvd, because she is in love with her.
Afterwards I felt sort of guilty because I feel that she will be stuck inside all the time and my family has always been a sort of, be healthy & go outdoors but with the cold weather and the fact I live in London makes it hard to do lots of outdoor activities.
I just feel bad that Tilly will be stuck indoors and when my son Emile & daughter (not born yet!) grow up they will be couch potatoes!
