Amiyah's Birth Story

11 pm February 22nd, I woke up feeling like I had to go potty. As I was crawling out oh bed I feel this gush of liquids running down my legs. At first I wasn't sure if I had wet myself. But then I realized that my water had broken. I was staying with my parents in PA, while my husband was in WA state (he is in the army). I call into my parents room and ask my mom to come here. I told her what had happened and she asked me if I was having contractions. I wasn't so she was trying to figure out if my water really did break. No matter what, she was going to take me to the hospital just in case, but first she was going to put her makeup on.
On our way to the hospital she has to stop and pick up some coffee (by that time I was starting to get contractions), so I took that time to call my husband and let him know what was going on. Once we made it and I was checked in things were going pretty good. Contractions weren't too bad, I was 3 or 4 centimeters dilated.
At around 4am the contractions were getting so I couldn't really handle them any more, so the nurse gave me half of some pain meds in my IV. She told me to try and nap, so I did (which my dilation hadn't really changed). I woke up probably around 5:20ish and was having horrible contractions so I asked if I could have something for the pain. Of course first they had to check me. Well I was basically completely dilated and was ready to push.
I started pushing around 5:45 or so, the doctor got there when her head was crowning, he ended up having to cut me, then at 6:18 I had my beautiful baby girl! I was very upset at first that I took the pain meds, but in the end I was so very thankful, because my labor wasn't as long as it would have been.
