Elijah Grayson's Birth Story
Submitted by baby_boy_mom
Well this was my first pregnancy and I did not know what to expect! Throughout the whole pregnancy my blood pressure was real high!! My doctor did not want to put me on any meds because well, I didn't want them! I don't even like taking Tylenol! :( So we just watched it and took lots of blood work as well as doing that stupid urine drop thing! YUCK! Yea the doc hands me this jug and says, "Pee in this every time you have to 'go' and then keep it in the fridge to keep it cool." For real??? GROSS! So, I had to do that 2 times!
Well, by week 37 I was soooo ready to meet my lil one and my husband was so ready for me NOT to be preggo anymore so he asks the doc during my checkup, "Isn't there a magic button that we can press to get this thing going?" lol So, the doc says he can do a "membrane stripping" when I come back for my 38 week checkup.
So we go back for the 38 week checkup and he does the stripping and says, "I know you had more blood work done to check for preecclampsia, so if it is bad I will call you in the morning, and if you don't go into labor see you next week".
So, the next day he calls me and says my #s were a little higher than last time and he wants to induce me the NEXT DAY!! WOW this is for real now?!?! OMG!
So, we get to the hospital the next day at 8:30 am and they immediately start me on pit since I was already 3 cm dilated. The pain was bearable so I opted for no epidural...YET! Doc comes in to check me at 12:30 and I was 4 cm at that point so he broke my water. Not even 10 seconds after that...I felt IMMENSE PAIN! I then asked for the epi! The epi guy was taking forever so I asked if there was something that she could give me to hold me over. They gave me some med that they put in my IV drip and it made me LOOPY!! like I don't remember a lot!!
The epi guy walked in the door right as they put the loopy meds in my IV so I felt good. Then at 2:30 I was checked again and was 6-7 cm at that point. Then at 3:15 pm I told them I felt like I had to push...there was no nurse around at that point so my hubby runs outta the room to get someone. Then the nurse checks me and says "you are fully dilated but don't push yet we have to wait for the doc". I'm like...SERIOUSLY??? WAIT???
So...finally he came in and rushed to get ready. It was hard to know when to push though, because the epi made me numb so I couldn't feel when I was having a contraction! So the nurse felt my tummy and she told me when to start pushing. We started pushing at 3:30pm. Four pushes later and at 4:06 pm...
Little Elijah Grayson was born weighing 6lbs 7ozs.
