Haley Marie's Birth Story

Seven weeks after having Hannah, I had a car accident that broke my tailbone and fractured my pelvis. I got x-rays, MRI, and CT scans, and was given morphine and Lortab pills for pain for 2 months after. I didn't know I was pregnant for quite a while, but when we found out, we were scared of how the pregnancy would turn out after all the drugs and tests. I had a new midwife, but she is the greatest one in the world! She was so helpful and attentive and reassuring to me.

The pregnancy lasted without any issues, and we decided that she would induce me on 07/04, which happened to be the day she was on call at the hospital. I couldn't sleep at all the night before (what a time for nesting instincts to kick in!! lol) and finally went to bed at about 12:30 am. I was supposed to call at 5 am and see when they wanted me to come in, but I woke up at 2:30 am having contractions only 3-4 minutes apart on my own.

We went to the hospital at 3:30 am, leaving my sister-in-law with Hannah. My parents, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law joined us in the room later, and Hannah was in her Pack-n-Play in the corner of the room the whole time.

They broke my water at 10:30 am. I got the epidural at 11:30 am, and started pushing at 12:05 pm. I pushed for 33 minutes, and Haley came out at 12:38 pm. She was perfect and got to stay in my room with me from the start.
