Haylee Nicole's Birth Story

Submitted by jamie_strang
I was due august 9th 2009, but little Haylee Nicole decided differently. It started off on the night of July 21st. I was not able to sleep. I didn't feel uncomfortable, I just wasn't tired. I got to bed about 5 am and I kept waking up because I kept feeling like I had to pee, but I didn't have to. About 7 in the morning I was in pain and I realized I was having a contraction, but I didnt think much of it because I would randomly get them starting a week or so before that. So I was like, "Ok, yeah, whatever..." and tried to go back to sleep. But I couldn't.
Fifteen minutes later, I had another one, but I ignored it again. That kept happening so I decided to get into the shower because I had a doctors appointment that day at 10 anyways. So I figured I would deal with it and wait till then.

After I got out of the shower, it went from every 15 minutes to every 6 minutes. I was sitting here trying to deal with it and my sis woke up and came out of the room. It was about 9 at this time and she instantly knew something was wrong. So I told her and she was like, "Ok, we are taking you in early."

So we went in and of course for the first time the office was paaaaacked! lol I was like, "Aahhhh dude, that's not cool," and I told the lady at the counter what was going on. She was like, "Ok, we will get you in as soon as we can." There were 2 people they called back and by that point I couldn't sit down anymore 'cause it hurt, so everyone let me go in before them even though they had been there for a while.

I got there and the doc told me I was dialated 1 cm, so he wanted me to go to the hospital to be monitored and i was like, "Ok sure!" We had to go about 15 miles, and by the time we got to the hospital (we were going 80 mph the whole way there) and got in the room to be checked, I was 6 cm dialated. I figured out that the problem I was having in the morning with thinking I had to pee was that my water broke! So, yeah, we got to the room and on the way to the hospital the contractions were now at 4 minutes apart. I got into the room the guy gave me the epidural and then I could relax for a bit, but it wound up starting to wear off because I stayed at 6 cm for a while.

When they checked again, I was 8, then 9... and then the doc still hadn't gotten there 'cause he still has a couple appointments and also it was a far way, but he did send his student who go there before him. (Man, is he cute! lol Sorry had to throw that in!)

I was pushing so I didn't even notice him come in and I didn't know he would do when he did. My sisters were looking at him like, "Uhhhh who are you?" LOL! But anyways they had me start pushing about 4:40 or so and Haylee was born at 4:55 on July 22 2009. (My doc finally made it a couple minutes after I started to push.)

But, yeah, I was about 3 weeks before my due date and she was 7 pounds 2.8 inches. She is a little bit yellow, but getting better and gaining her weight back.
