John's Birth Story

I was due March 2nd, and the night before, at 10:30 pm, my contractions started as I was just getting into bed. They came strong and fast. At about 4 am, we headed to the hospital. Mind you, I live 7 minutes away from the hospital and it took my fiance and I a little more than a half hour to get there. Soon after we arrived, our moms showed up, my sister, and my grandmother.
They measured me and I was already 6 cm and my contractions were 4 minutes apart. At about 10 am, my water broke, and I did not want the epidural at all, so at 8cm I had gotten an IV of some great drug that made me sleep through my contractions.
Soon after that, I was ready. I couldn't hold any longer and I had to push. Turns out my sons head was stuck on my cervix, so they made me stop pushing, while yes... I had all these people in the room plus my midwife, doctor, and nurses.
About a half hour later, they told me to start pushing again and every time I pushed they went in and pushed back my cervix. Oh, was it ever painful! It was funny though cause when I was crowning (TMI?), everyone thought that was it, he had a tiny head and then I gave one more push and this 13 cm head came out. Yes, he had a cone head for a day or so. But, it was the best day of my life.
John was born on his due date, March 2nd, at 12:21pm.
He was 8lbs 7oz and 21 1/2" long, 13cm head and 13cm chest.
