Luis' Birth Story
Submitted by mamaztobee
My story is a pretty ridiculous one! ha! Well the day I went into labor I didn't know I was in labor and I was mad at my boyfriend and I told him I needed to go to the hospital because I was having contractions and in fact I wasn't. I just told him I was because I know that he hated going to the hospital and having to wait there for hours and just get released.
Well after being there for about 5 hours I was having really high contractions and I didn't feel them. So the nurse got off her shift and she was like, "Congrats," and then she walked out the room and I looked at my husband and I am like, "What the hell is she congratulating me for?"
So the next nurse comes in and I am like, "I wanna talk to my doctor," and she was like, "Oh, she is coming," and I am like, "Umm okay, still confused."
So then my doctor came and I was like, "Can I go home?" because I still wasn't feeling the contractions. And she told me, "No you can't, because you're 3-4cm and I am going to break your water! You're in labor!" That shocked the hell out of me. So I called my mom and told her the doctor said I am in labor and she goes, "Ya, I know, the hospital already called me and I am on my way there already." So at the end of that night I was the one who got the joke turned around on me...
I didn't feel my contractions for about 12hrs in labor which was delightful. Once I got to 7cm, I was feeling them and they were bad. So I tried to go in the Jacuzzi but that made me more mad and so I got back in the bed and watched TV and I felt way better in the bed.
It was weird that I was able to sleep while having contractions and in the last part of labor. After 5 hours of sleep I woke up with weird pressure and they checked me and I was 10cm. They said I could start pushing. I was confused and still a lil sleepy, so we started and I didn't even feel when the baby came out! And when my baby came out it felt really good. Then when my doctor was pushing on my stomach to get the placenta out, usually everybody that I knew told me that hurts bad, but to me that felt so good when they were taking it out and pushing on my stomach.
I was in labor for 15hrs and with little pain, slept great, and everybody tells me that I had a really lucky labor to not to have much pain.
He was born Sept. 14th 2009 8lbz8oz 20 3/4in. and healthy.
