trojsuz's Birth Story
Submitted by trojsuz
Well it started on Sunday night, getting pains every now and then; that wasn't a good nights sleep at all. I woke up on Monday morning and the pains where still there but more constant. I said goodbye to my husband and told him to be on stand-by. We emailed each other all day. (What's happening now? How far apart? Had anything broken?) The contractions were 20 seconds long and were getting closer and closer together.
I started to go house-clean mad and between emails from my husband and phone calls every hour from my mother, things started to get crazy. By 1pm I emailed my husband and told him to get home before the traffic. I did not want him stuck in traffic and me having to get myself to hospital. The house was spotless I cleaned and cleaned and scrubbed and scrubbed washed clothes ironed clothes and undies and tea towels. I placed my hospital bags by the door and when my husband walked in I said, "Have a shower, have dinner, get in comfy clothes and get ready."
Contractions were every five minutes, 30secs long and stronger. I called the hospital and she said wait till you can't speak anymore. By 7.30pm I was pacing the house like a mad women and started to stress out, as I had not felt my baby for a while. Rang the hospital and the said to come in. HERE WE GOOOOOO!!!!!
I arrived at the hospital and they checked the baby and my contractions and did a internal. I was in labour and she was in position and head down ready to go. I did not want to go home. I was not moving. Walking, pacing, moving, oucchhhhh!!! By 1am in the morning I opted for an epidural. I was just exhausted and needed sleep. She arrived 1:45am and did the epidural. I then relaxed and slept. They broke my waters and realized that she had opened her bowels inside, so that had to be monitored. At 5am, things changed. My contractions stopped, my babies heart rate started to jump around, my blood pressure dropped. My OB arrived at 6.30am, looked at my scan and said she needed to come out. I did not care I just wanted her out. I was freaking out and was scared she wasn't going to make it.
By 7.25am Tuesday morning, our precious angel, 2.5kilos and 47cms long, was born by emergency Cesarean section. She screamed when she came out. I was so tired I couldn't think; it was all too early at that point. She was rushed to special care nursery for monitoring, as her blood sugars kept on dropping and she was so small. I was in hospital for a week and little baby was in special care for 4 days. We all went home together happily and healthy. Phewwww!!!
I won't be doing that again for a while. But it's all worth it. Our little angel ROCKS!!!!
