Would You Eat Your Placenta? This Mom's Going To!
Hey mom! What's for dinner? For mom blogger, Stephanie of Mama and Baby Love, the answer to that often dreaded question is easy: Placenta! Yep, you read that right. Stephanie is planning to eat the placenta she froze a year ago, after the birth of her daughter, according to her blog. She's even convinced two of her BFFs to join the dinner party (with placentas of their own!).
Placentophagy—the practice of grubbing on your afterbirth—is said to help prevent postpartum depression, impotence and infertility, among other things. You can even find placenta recipes online. Placenta lasagna, anyone?
We'll be following Stephanie's blog for the aftermath, er, results of the party. In the meantime, what are your thoughts? Would you serve up your placenta on a plate?
