Sophia's Birth Story

OK, well it all started on Monday, January 18 2010. I was at my last prenatal doctor's visit from what I thought. I was due on the 22 the same month, which was that Friday. When the doctor preformed the ultrasound he explained to me how my fluid was low and how I would have to be induced the same day. Right when i heard that i was so scared all kinds of different thoughts started to rush through my mind. So we got all our paper work from the doctors and i went home and got all my stuff ready. Then i was off. we arrived at the hospital at about 4:15 pm and they got everything ready for me. At around 6pm the started my labor with cervadil and was told that the medicine would hopefully take affect in about 12 hours from insertion. The nurse would go in my room and check my dilation every now and then but my luck nothing was happening my doctor later came in and told me that he was going to give me until 12pm the next day to try to advance in my labor and if everything stood the same i would need a c section. So they later gave me a different type of IV fluid that would speed up my labor and make my contractions stronger. I was doing ok even though i was in a world of pain and i thought i was doing pretty good but, like i said, with my luck my nurse came in to check me again and told me she was going to try to help me dilate and accidentally broke my water!! So after that they tried to give me pitocin to speed up everything even more. I was in so much pain that i had to ask for my epidural after that i was so comfortable that i finally fell asleep and got some rest. Around 11:30 am the next day which was the 19th my nurse came in and told me since my waters were already low every contraction i was getting was pinching my babies umbilical cord and was making her heart rate go down so i was rushed to have a c section. I was ok with everything as long as i had my baby safely and that i knew she would be ok. So they prepped me and started my operation. It didn't take that long and i couldn't feel a thing i just laid there listening to what my doctor was saying and felt comfortable with my boyfriend there holding my hand. My doctor then told me that i would feel a bit of pressure and that the baby was coming. I felt them push down and pull and at 12:57 i heard her cry. That cry was the happiest sound i ever heard in my life i knew she was there and began crying. That moment was truly a special moment. Now she is 4 days old and i have the most perfect baby. I couldn't ask for anything better. I love her so much. Welcome to our world Sophia Rose Sanchez
