Ella's Birth Story

Ok so I was due to have my first baby On Jan. 17th 2010, a little girl. I was so excited!! I had high blood pressure before I got prego and I was able to go off of my BP meds while I was prego and had no complications.
On December 4th I had a regular OB/GYN appointment and I want feeling well, so he sent me to the hosp to have routine tests ran. The ultrasound was great she was doing great, but come to find out she was sucking me dry of my potassium and so they put me on meds for that and told me to see the doc back in one week.
Still I wasn't feeling well I went in to see him on Thursday December 10th 2009. My blood pressure was 160/106 and he sent me straight to the hosp to "run tests." I got over there at about 10am I was being admitted and having "tests" ran. I ended up having to have a 24 hour urine test done by cath!!! Of course the doc didn't tell me this!!! So I had to be stuck in the bed for 24 hrs. That sucked soooo bad.
The next afternoon the nurse came in and took the cath out!! I was so happy and finally able to get up and walk around... that thing was sooo uncomfortable!! The doc came in at around 1 and said that he was waiting on the 24hr urine test and if it was over 500 than he was going to do an emergency C-Section!! I got kinda nervous, but all my other tests were normal so we were sure that there was no way for her to be born yet! Plus I was only 34 weeks along!!
About 2:30 pm on December 11th the doc came in and said, "Ok the results are 518 and we are going to have a baby. I have the OR booked for 3:15. See ya soon." My jaw dropped. I didn't know what to think. I was so scared!! She would be 5 weeks early! I AM NOT READY!! I made my phone calls to my family and so did my fiance and tried out best to mentally prepare ourselves to become parents right then!!
Every thing went smooth and there were no complications with the delivery and she was born at 3:47pm on the 11th of Dec. She weighed in at 4lbs 14 oz 18in long. She needed no oxygen and she was screaming!! She of course went to the NICU right then and there. I didn't get to see her until the next afternoon, because of my blood pressure which instantly went down and I later found out that they called it preeclampsia!!! The only way to make you better is deliver the baby. I was like a freak of nature, so to speak, for some of the nurses because when they let me up to walk I was gone down the hall to see her. They couldn't believe that I was up and walking after a C-Section! But I had one thing on my mind and that was to see my baby girl who we named Ella Hope.
When I got there she was soooo beautiful with a head full of red hair just like her Daddy!! She did wonderful while in the NICU. The only set back was that she had some reflux, so they put her on special formula and she was able to come home after being in there for 10 days on Dec. 21st. She was the best Christmas present!!
Now she is almost 2 mos old and weighing in at 8 lbs 9 oz and 20 1/2 in. We are both doing great and getting adjusted! As long as we play Bob Marley for her she is happy!!
