Birth Stories: The birth of Brayden Wayne

Submitted by nmnlovestrk
I was due on March 13th 2010 with my first child. At 32 weeks 5 days pregnant i was in a car accident. My vehicle rolled over and i was in the car for an hour before they got me out and into the ambulance. My little guy must not have enjoyed that coaster ride too well because that jump started labor. In the ER they told me i was having contractions pretty regularly and couldn't feel them! I was transfered to a different hospital with a NICU just in case. After a whole day of trying, they finally stopped labor. After a few weeks of takin nifediphine to stop contractions i had my 36 week check up where i was told that if i went into labor any time after that they would not stop it again. YAY I was so excited that my little boy would be here anyday after that. Little did i know that would be so soon. The next afternoon i started having contractions every 40 minutes. This lasted for only 2 hours, false alarm. At 4:30 that afternoon i started bleeding quite a bit. Called the hospital and was told to relax for an hour and see if it stops. i was so scared for my baby because of the accisent, i thought something was wrong and they hadn't caught it. All i could think was that i was going to loose him before i ever had a chance to meet him. An hour later, still bleeding ALOT. They tell me to come in to find out whats going on and make sure they baby's ok. I arrived at the hospital at 6:20 pm on February 13th exactly one month before my due date. Get hooked up to the monitor and the baby's heart rate is steady and he is doing great. contractions are now every 6 minutes, only i can feel half of them. so i thought they stopped, but i just couldn't feel it! I was dialated to 3 cm and 50 % effaced already. The doc said that they had to attempt somewhat to stop labor since it was a month early. I was given two bags of water in hopes that the fluid would stop contractions. I told the nurse i didn't want it cuz i was not leaving the hospital without a baby this time. lol. She said too bad your getting it anyways, doctors orders. Two bags of water, a nifediphine and three hours later i was dialated to 5 cm and the nurse had to call the doc in. I couldn't help myself, i yelled out to the nurse "I WIN" she simply looked at me and smiled. At about 11 pm the doc finally gave in and broke my water. I was 7 cm by this time no turning back now. I decided to accept the epidural even though the pain was not too bad to handle. What a waist of time! It didn't work! I was numb for about 5 minutes, then the feeling came back in my left side. I rolled to that side in hopes of gettin the meds down there, no luck still. The feeling came back in my lower back then all over within a matter of minutes. At 2:15 am on february 14th i told the nurse it was time to push. Can't explain the feeling i had but i just knew it was time. i pushed until 3 am and then the doc brought in the vaccum. Due to injuries i had from the accident i couldn't lift myself off the bed to push as hard as they wanted. Once the vaccum was finally on right Brayden Wayne came out during one last contraction at 3:17 am. This was the best valetines present i could have ever asked for!!!! And the most wonderful part was that my husband and i really were not able to do anything for the holiday at all, not even dinner. I believe Brayden wanted to give us both the best gift of all just when we least expected it.
