Birth Stories: Quick, Easy, Painless Birth

I got pregnant with my second child in August of 2003. My marriage was falling apart and I was about to make detective status at work. My Husband was convinced that having a baby would solve all our problems and I kept refusing this idea. In October he made me go to the GYN to see why I wasn't getting pregnant (I thought it was because I was using a diaphram without his knowledge) I had been having light periods so I had no reason to think I was pregnant so I went and was going to get the birth control shot. Well the doctor came in and she said I'm sorry Ms. Admon I cannot give you birth control because you are already pregnant and she done an ultrasound and I was 8 weeks pregnant. Ray was excited the night I told him it was on a Friday...beer drinking night. Of course every night was. The next morning he smacked my little 2 year daughter around and called her ugly names, then he smacked me and called me names when I defended her. I told him to leave. He did and I was served with divorce papers around Christmas. There was a concern with the pregnancy for a few weeks, but on Christmas Eve at 17 weeks they sent me to a High Risk OB and he did an Ultrasound and everything was fine and they could tell the sex of the baby, but just like with my first I didn't want to know. The rest of the pregnancy was as smooth as silk. I made Detective Status, but they put me behind the desk of course. Same with Fire and Rescue I could go on calls, but just drive the trucks and assist with the victims when there were any. I remarried in January to one of my dearest friends life was good and we were Happy. The baby was due May 27th. May 15th My sisters threw me a baby shower and my husband Donny was out of town so I was staying with my parents Until he got back, he was due back late on the night of the 16th. I woke up on the morning of the 16th at 3:30 or so and my back was hurting so I got the heating pad and tried that for about an hour, didn't work so I took a hot shower and I looked in the mirror and my whole shape had changed. Saturday the baby had been high up in my ribs, now my belly was sagging to my knees almost. We did our normal Sunday routine, went and had lunch at my Granny's and my sisters' wanted to go home. The older of the two of them was pregnant too. So my Mom agreed to take them home, but only if I rode with her so we left around 8 PM it was about an hour and a half drive to get there. We were about 30 minutes out of Chattanooga when the first contraction hit, this was about 10 PM and five minutes later another hit and I knew I was in labor and I told Mom the baby is coming. She said we'll be to the hospital soon and I said no I want to go home get my suitcase and get Hannah settled with Dad and hopefully Donny will be home. So we bypassed the hospital exit and headed for Jasper about 15 miles later my water broke and Mom said OK your going back to the hospital now. By the time I got there it was 10:45 and I was contracting every three to five minutes. My sisters' were busting a speed record to get to Chattanooga in time for the birth, my Mom went home to take Hannah to my Dad and get my suitcase and my Grandma. They got me in a delivery room and checked me and I was at 4 cm. My Mom got back with my Nanny at 11:30. Donny's Plane landed at 11:45 across town, I had gotten word to him that he should come straight to the hospital. At 12:15 I had to push, and my mom argued with me, saying the nurse was just in here your only at six, you haven't even gotten your epidural yet. I pulled her by the shirt collar ans said go get the durn nurse I'm telling you I have to push. Mean while my sisters were in the hospital running to get upstairs and Donny was on the express way two exits from the hospital's exit running to get there because his car had broke down. The nurse comes in and checks me and says Oh Yeah shes complete and I can see the baby's head she told my mom to go to the desk and tell the nurse to page Dr. Brunner because she couldn't leave me and the doctor and my sisters got in the room at the same time and they didn't even break down the bed she just said go ahead and Push Leia and I pushed twice and the baby was out and the doctor said would you like to cut the cord and I said yes and another nurse had laid a blanket on my chest and the doctor said Congratulations Leia you have a beautiful baby boy and he let out a cry and she laid him on my chest. Luke Michael Admon was born at 12:30 AM on May 17, 2004 he weighed 8lbs 14oz. and was 20 in. long. My husband came running in the room soaking wet with sweat 15 minutes after Luke was born. It was amazing it was quick and not all that painful and I didn't tear at all even with him weighing almost nine pounds. I don't remember the pain being unbearable. Luke is a Happy, Healthy almost 6 year old now.
