Rocco's Birth Story

Submitted by lexlee123
In my childhood neighborhood, there was a mean, nasty boy who lived up the street from me: Gabriel. He was loud, rude and got slapped by any girl he flirted with (I was one). We never got along, in all of elementary, middle, and high school.

However, when I was 15, Gabriel informed me of one of his ootball buddies needing a math tutored. I quickly accepted, and Gabriel's friend became my boyfriend. Things between Jake (my then boyfriend) and I moved quickly. On a tutoring session at my house one night, one thing led to another, and I found out I was pregnant. Jake scampered off when I told him the news, and I never saw him again.

I was going to college part-time when Marco (my son) was 3. My professor said that I would need a science tutor. That science tutor turned out to be... Gabriel. He was surprised, and I was too. However, things didn't turn out the same way as Jake's time. We went to a dorm party of my friend, and someone spiked the drinks there. THEN, one thing led to another, and I ended up pregnant. Gabriel and I still wanted to believe that we hated each other, but we both knew that for the sake of the baby, we had to try to put aside our differences. But I knew, on the inside, Gabriel loved me... and I loved him back.

The night I went into labor, Gabriel and I got into a big fight. My mom drove me to the hospital, and I tried to call Gabriel, but he wouldn't answer. 12 hours passed, and my doctor told I was 10 cm dilated, and I needed to push. When I was pushing, I heard the door swing open... and in came Gabriel, scrubs on and all, ran over to hold me hand. I started to cry, not from pain, but from never-ending love.

When Rocco was finally born, Gabriel told me how much he's ALWAYS loved me, and that he was an idiot to think otherwise. I was an idiot, too. I was in love with that mean, nasty boy who lived up the street.

In the end, my enemy became my friend, boyfriend, and now husband, with 3 beautiful kids now. Gabriel, You're an Idiot, but I love you for that.
