Tommy's Birth Story
Submitted by khegler
My son Thomas refused to come out. As my due date got closer and closer, I had not dilated. My doctor kept telling me to have a c-section but would not tell me why! He didn't want to induce me! I refused and wanted a natural delivery.
Thomas was due January 15, 2010 but still had not budged when the day came. I decided to switch doctors 2 days before my due date. January 18th the new doctor decided to induce me but let me know that I would most likely need a section.
I labored for 18 hours and still no dilating. I went in for a spinal but they were unable to place it, then they tried an epidural and he damaged my spine causing permanent damage and numbness in my toes and legs. I was under full anesthesia when my son was born January 19th, 2010 at 5:53pm.
I did not wake up until 7 pm that night. My mother and father were in the room when my husband showed me our beautiful new son. I cried and cried! I had never felt more love in my life.
Although it was scary, I would do it all over again. Thomas is healthy. It turns out I had Cephalopelvic Disproportion and he never would have made it naturally. I am the happiest mommy and thank god every day that everything turned out.
