Vanessa's Birth Story

Submitted by V-baby30
It was July 29th, I was 1 day overdue and very anxious to have my baby girl Vanessa! I was trying everything to put my self into labor I went for a long walk, I had a hot bath, and I even cut the grass, but nothing was working! I didn't think anything of it, but all day I was having period cramps and just thought that was Vanessa getting further into my birth canal and that she would come out any day. So I watched a nice movie with my husband and mom and dad and then went to bed, still with bad period cramps.

At about 5:30 in the morning, I suddenly felt like I had to go to the washroom really bad!! So I got out of bed and as I was walking to my bedroom doorway and my water broke!!! I was very happy and scared all in one! I yelled for my husband to wake up and told him it was time! He jumped right out of bed (still asleep!) and helped me to the washroom. My parents had stayed the night that evening because my mom had a feeling that Vanessa would arrive that evening. My mom helped me get changed, and off we went to the hospital.

At first my contractions were very light, and far apart so the doctors had me walking around for what felt like EVER! And then finally they got stronger! For about 3 hours I was only about 3 cm dilated, and I was then getting worried but the nurse said she could help me get my delivery moving! I finally got my epidural, and that's what did it! I was dilating fast—I went from 3 cm to 6 cm in not even an hour. It was going smoothly. It took approximately 10 minutes for Vanessa to come!

After all was said and done, Vanessa was born at 3:05 pm on July 30th weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces and very healthy. She was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! What was the most amazing part of the whole experience, was the fact that my husband, who NEVER cries... who acts like the tough guy... cried as soon as he saw his baby girl! And that just made me melt inside. Now he is a very soft guy! He cries over everything that Vanessa does!

She is now 2 months old and healthy! She weighs 12 pounds! She is the apple of our eye! And we wouldn't change anything!
