Annabelle's Birth Story

Submitted by mummyroxy
Please don't be afraid of my delivery nightmare!

I had high blood pressure, so on the 16th of December they decided to take me in and induce me. I was quite relaxed actually. They hooked me up to all the monitors and a lovely midwife gave me my first tablet (they insert it into your baby making bit) ;-) It was slightly uncomfortable but ok. I had to lay there desperate for a wee for a few hours for it to dissolve.

Unfortunately the first tablet didn't work, so that afternoon, they put another one in there. I started to get slight discomfort but nothing major. They made me stay overnight; my partner wasn't allowed to stay as I wasn't in what they considered 'labour'. At 5 in the morning, I woke to some heavier pains. I buzzed the midwife and she gave me some paracetamol. (Yes paracetamol.) I was contracting not got a headache woman!

My partner and mum arrived at 8 and they took me to the delivery suite. They had a good look and I was 2 cm dilated, so they popped my waters! Yeah! My contractions came on quick and fast then! They offered me an epidural and I was 4 cm dilated. That's when panic set in!

Within 30 minutes I went from 4 cm to 10 cm, baby went into distress and they couldn't find a heartbeat, so I was rushed in for a c-section. I was pretty out of it after that. I was pumped full of god only knows what. I was totally unaware of what was going on. They decided they could reach her with forceps and she was out in minutes. All I can remember is my fiance sat next to me crying his eyes out and seeing my baby Annabelle for the first time!

I have to say it was pretty scary and I am pregnant again now! So second time lucky on this delivery!
