Colton's Birth Story

Submitted by ColtonsMommy08
I found out I was pregnant in April 2008 and immediately made a birth plan. I would go into labor naturally, get an epidural sometime during the labor, and deliver my son, Colton, vaginally.

Late into my pregnancy I had high blood pressure and had to go on bed rest for a few weeks before my due date. I started to see spots 2 weeks before Colton was due and the doctor sent me to labor and delivery.

They used medicines to soften my cervix and more medicines to get my labor moving. It was getting dangerous for my son to be in there with my blood pressure being so high. After 16 hours the doctor told me she would have to perform a C-Section.

I cried! No one in my family had ever had a C-Section. I was a single mom with no one there for support but my family. The calming words came from my little brother who told me that it was going to be okay and that the scar would be hard to see.

I had Colton Nov 25 at 5:14pm. The C-Section was quick and easy and the healing was quick as well. Although my birth plan didn't go at all with what really happened, I am the proud mother of a very healthy little boy!
