Birth Stories: Nathan's miraculous entry.

On Monday, Oct 25, at around 6 pm my water broke. My due date wasn't for another week, and this being my first pregnancy I wasn't sure exactly what it was. Thank goodness for my mom because she knew exactly. About 2 hours later we drove to the hospital. I was in labour all night, but I was still feeling pretty good. I was walking around and eating, doing normal activities. The next day we talked to the doctor and since I wasn't dilating they started me on oxytocin. All day I was feeling contractions, but it didnt feel like anything was happening. At about 8 pm Tuesday night the doctor came in again to check and see what was happening, but my cervix had only dilated by 1 cm. By this point I had been in labour for 27 hours. The contractions were getting pretty strong, but nothing was happening because the baby was sideways and hadn't dropped. I was given the option of a c-section. It was the hardest decision I ever had to make, have a section or wait another 12 hours to see what happened. I chose the section. They prepped me for surgery and brought me upstairs. My mom was the only one allowed in the room. They covered me up and gave me the spinal tap, there was about 15 people in the room, not including me and my mom. The doctor started the surgery and I immediatly felt him cutting into me. My mom had to get their attention because of course no one was listening to me. The doctor stopped and said he would give it a few minutes. But when he started I could again feel the scalpel cutting into me. They decided they had to put me under. I woke up in recovery, no one I knew was around me so I was a little scared. I was wheeled out into the hallway and there I got to meet my little angel. I saw my mom and boyfriend and then Nathan was handed to me. (: My body was numb and frozen but as soon as I held him I was happy.
