Patrick's Birth Story

October 11th, at 11pm I was having horrible contractions. I called L&D and they confirmed it sounded like labor and wanted me to come in. We drove the half hour to the hospital and they hooked me up. Sure enough I was in the beginning stages of labor. I went for several walks but I was not progressing AT ALL!! We spoke with the doctor and she sent us home with some muscle relaxers and told us to be ready to be back within 24 hours. I took the muscle relaxers and we went home. When I woke up 12 hours later I was fine. My contractions were pretty much gone. October 14th I saw my doc and she told me that because of his size (he has been measuring very large since the very beginning) and because of me already laboring for several hours a C-Section seems like my best choice. So we scheduled it for 10/19. I continued contractions but they never got too bad so we didn't go back to the hospital. On 10/19 my husband and I woke up early and headed to the hospital. We got there at 7am the c-section was scheduled for 9am. My husband is very anxious around blood so he was with me until the c-section and my mom took over from there. We started the c-section right at 9am and at 9:29 I heard Patrick cry! It's an amazing feeling. They brought him right over to me after they cleaned him up. I held him for about 15 minutes before they took him to my husband. Patrick was 9 pounds 15 ounces although the nurse said he was most likely right at 10 pounds since he peed on her before she could weigh him. He was 20.5 inches long and his head was 39cm around! It's the best feeling in the world to be a mommy. I love it! I can't believe how much I love him already!
