Christian Alexander's Birth Story
Submitted by fatherof32010
I remember the day my third child, Christian Alexander, was brought into this world by my lovely wife Adrianne. The pregnancy was a real good one, no problems at all. Every test was normal, every ultrasound and every heartbeat was healthy. We went to the hospital occasionally when something wasn't right but it was always a false alarm.
Towards the end of the pregnancy, about the 39th week, the doctor told us in order to induce, we had to go past the due date to 41 weeks, which we were both scared and worried about at the same time and very anxious to see our baby boy as well.
It was the 41st week, Aug. 31, 2010 to be exact, when we arrived at the hospital at 8 in the morning to get prepped for induction and the birth of our son. The staff at the hospital was very helpful, especially her nurse that day, who really got her through the whole delivery. She gave her support, too, and it didn't take her long at all to get to 10 cm. They called for the epidural at 5 cm or 6 cm and by the time they were done with that and laid her back down, it was time to push.
She pushed him out without the epidural—it kicked in after the baby was out. As soon as I saw him, I started to cry. I was also very lightheaded and faint because of being too excited to eat. I asked how much he weighed and I almost hit the floor ... he weighed 9 lbs, 9.4 oz! He is almost 3 months now and he is turning out to be a very special child and handsome to boot. I love him so much. And that's my story on Christian's birth!
