Madison's Birth Story

Submitted by Madisonmommy2010
It was June 7 and I was going for my weekly checkup. My mom was so excited that she was asking the doctor to check me and maybe to induce me. When the doctor checked me, I was almost 2 cm. She decided to give me the vaginal massage (ouch!) and told me that she expects me to give birth in a week or two. I asked her if she thought I could give birth today and she was blown away and said not at all. I was disappointed because I had been doing so much walking, swimming and using an exercise ball.

We left the doctor's office and went to the mall to finish the shopping that we needed to do before the baby arrived. We sat outside the mall talking about the baby and everything, and while we were waiting, I got two huge pains in my stomach. But this was my first baby so I didn't know too much about contractions and real labor. So after we went into the mall and we were in there for about 30 minutes, I felt a pop and warm water-like substance running down my leg. My water broke in the mall! :p

I called my mom and she left work to come get me. Instantly I started getting contractions two minutes apart. I was scared to walk anywhere because I could feel my daughter in between my legs, so my boyfriend went to get a wheelchair so that I could be wheeled out, and we left in my mom's car. I called my doctor to tell her that my water broke and she told me to head over to Tempe St. Lukes Hospital.

I was at the hospital for around two hours when I felt a huge urge to push. I told the doctors that were at the hospital and they told me I had to wait because my doctor wasn't there. Keep in mind that I hadn't had any IVs, an epidural or any pain medication.

They checked me again and said I had no cervix and I had no idea what that meant until my mom gave my boyfriend a bad look and said the baby was on its way. After that, doctors came rushing in and started throwing tools, towels and all kinds of things around. My doctor finally arrived and I gave birth to my daughter naturally. (:
