Taz-juan's Birth Story
Submitted by sammiey23
It was Aug. 25, 2007, and I was 42 weeks pregnant with my son. The doctor said, "Your GBS isn't hurting the baby. He's fine and I want you to walk." By the time I got home, I was about 3 cm so I walked for 4 hours. It was about 11 PM when I began to feel weird so I asked my roommate to take me to the hospital.
About six hours later, my 7-pound, 10-ounce baby boy was born, but something was terribly wrong—he wasn't breathing and he didn't have a heartbeat. I was so scared, I didn't know what to do but cry. About two hours later, the nurse came into my room to check my meds and I asked where my son is, if he was OK and if I could see him. All these questions and no answers, so I went looking for him.
First I went to the nursery. He wasn't there so I went to the nurses' station and I was demanding to see him when a nurse wheeled a baby down the hall. I stopped her and asked, "Do you know where baby Taz-juan is?" and she replied, "He's right here!" Later the doctors explained that the GBS I had caused more problems than we thought. He needed to stay for a couple of months.
So three months later I brought him home and it's been a wild roller coaster but I love him and I'll never give him up!
