Nisselokeo's Birth Story

Submitted by Nisselokeo
Two months after I found out I was pregnant with my second child, my husband got some crazy news: He was being deployed to Iraq. Besides having to miss him terribly, all I could think of was how I was going to function without him as I got further along and about everything he was going to miss! Add all this to the fact that I also had a 1-year-old to take care of, and it was just very stressful!

I made it through with my friends' help, as my family basically shunned me, except for my sister, who being younger, could only offer to babysit while I went to school and went to go buy food. Before my husband left, he requested leave for two weeks to come down from March 7 through the 22nd. Every night I would pray that our baby girl would please stay in until he could show up!

Finally the time came for his leave and by that time I was nine months pregnant and surprisingly, even though in my first pregnancy I could not even function, I was still walking around cleaning, purchasing food, and taking care of my almost-2-year-old, all by myself! For three whole days I had no contact from him whatsoever. I didn't know when he would arrive and my induction had been set for the 9th! On the 8th I was an utter mess when FINALLY I received a call in the evening from my husband! He had landed and would be home in two hours. The first time seeing him after about seven months was very intense!

The next day we set off to get my induction. As requested, I didn't receive any epidural and they explained everything they where going to do.(With my first pregnancy, they didn't even tell me that I was being induced or that they where going to break my water. It was very scary!) I basically got there, laid down and joked around with my husband. The nurse remarked on how much in love we seemed, which was so nice of her! Then I felt the contractions and pretty soon they got closer together and the pain was really bad. I almost broke down but I was so thankful for my husband being there that with his hand in mind, I didn't cry or scream. I just concentrated on the pushing when it was time and my babe came out and she was just so beautiful! I cried! It was just so great and I am so lucky that my husband got to be there!
