I was 20 years old and pregnant with my second child! I know it may seem young, but I had my first when I was 18 and I was with her father for three years and of course thought we were going to be together forever, blah blah lol! But we weren't and I ended up marrying my second love and getting pregnant only one month after being married!
He loved my daughter and wanted one of his own. When we found out I was pregnant, he was so excited and wanted a girl. When we went for the ultrasound, they showed us his "winky" and my husband cried and said, "I'm going to have a mini-me!"
My due date was set for Aug. 8. Well, I was 38 weeks and wanting that baby out! So I tried many different home remedies. And then my husband said that I should let nature take its course. But I was worried that this pregnancy would be like my first, and my second child would be late like my first! Ugh! I did not want that!
So two days before my due date, I went to the hospital because I thought my water had broke and was leaking, but ... it wasn't. So I went the next day ... nope. Aug. 8 came and I was awakened with a gush of fluid at 8am! But I was not going to go to the hospital because I didn't want to waste time and gas to just get sent home since my contractions were irregular and not strong at all. So I stayed home.
Finally, my friend came home from work and called me. I told her what had happened that morning and she said she was taking me to the hospital. We arrived at 6:37 PM and they admitted me because my water was indeed leaking! I was so nervous! They gave me Pitocin or something to speed up the labor because my contractions were not strong to me. My doc told me I was dilated at a 4 when just yesterday I was a 1! Thirty minutes went by and I was dilated a 6 and my contractions were coming every 2 mins. I opted for an epidural even though I hardly had any pain, and everyone told me I could have done it without one!
The doc came in two hours later and gave me my epidural and it took the edge off, but four mins later I felt as if my baby was crawling out of my you-know-what! My doc had left and lived 20 mins away so they told me to lay on my side and close my legs! Ugh! Excuse me, I HAVE TO PUSH! So my doc finally arrived 22 mins later and told me to spread em' and push! As soon as I opened my legs, my son's head was showing! I pushed TWICE and he was out!
I was so nervous the whole time and I was surprised because I thought I would be ready since I had some experience under my belt! But I was wrong! Anyway, my son was born on his due date and that was awesome since it's very rare for that to happen! I'm very blessed to have two beautiful and healthy children!
