Dina's Birth Story

Submitted by luvmydajanibabies
With the pregnancy of my second child everything was different including her birth. We recently moved back to San Francisco but I was still planning on delivering and continuing my prenatal care in Hayward. On my way to my 40 week check up appointment everything was fine until I got half way to the hospital. I started having severe contractions as I got onto the bridge. I thought to myself oh my gosh do I pull over and call 911 or continue driving. I was by myself and just kept telling myself I can make it I'm almost there. For a second I thought I'm gonna deliver my baby on the side of the freeway like in the movies. So I finally get to the hospital of course I can't find parking. I was left to park on the roof. Still having major contractions it felt like forever walking to the entrance. Meanwhile my contractions were subsiding slowly as I'm called into my appointment. Turns out I was dilated to 4 cm already and considering the distance my doctor wasn't going to send me home. I get checked in and changed hooked up to all the monitors. 3 hours later severe contractions again. Thanks to my epidural I was able to rest for a short period of time. Meanwhile I was about 6 1/2 centimeters, my husband and sister hadn't arrived yet, I figured we still had some time so I told them to get some food. Within 15 minutes I was fully dilated. Doctor came in said okay you ready to push? I said no! My husbands not here yet! Within a few minutes they're running into the room. Luckily, I didn't feel the urge so they were able to eat. But within 9 minutes my daughter was born. Despite how tired was I stayed up all night just staring at her.
