Birth Stories: Tristan's Birth

Submitted by Ellie001
This is my story. At 36 wks I went for my weeky exam when my obgyn told me I was in premature labor. After packing my bags, rushing to the hospital, and calling my fiance stationed in the ARMY 8 hours away from me, I spent a week cooped up and stuck to a million machines. Luckilly my doctors were able to reverse my labor & I soon went back to my home. At 38 weeks, it's approx. 1:30pm i'm sitting on my couch watching a movie, stuffing my big fat face when my water breaks! I again call my fiance and tell him it's time. He left the base asap. I went back to the hospital & things progressed fast. Too fast... I went to the hospital about 3pm, and at 1:13am my son was born. I had my family, and his by my side, but no fiance. He was still in his car. Luckilly my mother in law called him, put him on speaker, and he got to hear the birth. Tristan was born with water on his lungs, so they did not allow me to hold him at first. Eventually the medical team got all the fluid sucked out and he was fine. My fiance showed up the next afternoon and I got my first look at family life. It was wonderful. Andy (my fiance) got to stay home for 2 weeks before going back to base. I knew it was hard for him to leave us, but military life isn't easy. During his stay, he was wonderful... he got up at night with me, he took over when i needed a nap, he did it all. I had a great birth expirience and someday, I can't wait to do it again... someday!
