When I found out in the early part of 2010 that I was pregnant, I was very worried and afraid. I'd already had two previous miscarriages and wasn't sure I could handle a third one. I had been told by doctors that I couldn't get pregnant and if I did that it would be a miscarriage. Well, we proved them wrong.
The pregnancy went very well up until the day that I was induced. I had a vaginal delivery with no epi or any sort of pain medication. The whole labor and delivery was only a couple of hours. When it was closer to time for my son to be born, there was a big complication. The doctor thought we would have to do an emergency C-section because of it. While in labor, every time I would have a big contraction, my son's heart rate would plummet very low. This went on for about 20 to 30 minutes. They were getting ready to wheel me back for an emergency C-section when suddenly my son decided he was not waiting anymore.
The poor doctor had just enough time to come into my room to deliver my son. The nurse was by my side the whole time and when my son was finally born, his head popped out with the cord wrapped around his neck one time. The nurse unwrapped the cord just as the doctor came skidding into the room from a dead run. Other than that big scare during the delivery, my son was born healthy and perfect. Now he is 5 months old and still doing very well despite what the doctor told me initially about not being able to conceive or carry a child.
