Landon's Birth Story

Submitted by pinkorblue
Finding out I was prego was a big surprise. I'd been seeing a guy for two months when we found out. We were happy ... or at least I thought we were. I was 24 weeks prego when he threw me out and I had to go live with my parents again ... when I was 32 weeks along.

I was admitted to the hospital due to a bladder infection that wouldn't go away. I had my kidneys checked and was told I was OK and sent home. Then at 33 weeks, I got really sick and could barely eat. I slept but couldn't get out of bed. Finally, at 33 weeks, my mother took me to the hospital again, and I soon found out I was in complete kidney failure! I was taken to a bigger city hospital by ambulance and had more tests done to make sure that's what it was. I don't remember most of this time. I went in the next day for surgery. When I came out at 6 PM, I was informed I was 4 cm dilated.

I slept for most of the night now, feeling somewhat better. They broke my water at 8 and my son was born by natural childbirth at 12:15 PM. I was later told that I was so close to dying, they weren't sure if I or my son were going to make it. Luckily, Landon was born healthy, considering how early he came. He spent 22 days in the NICU and is now home.

I don't remember a lot of the stuff that happened. I don't even really remember having my son ... what I know and remember, I know because of my parents telling me and pictures. They later found out my son was what caused the kidney failure and that when and if I decide to get pregnant again, they are 100 percent sure it will happen again. My son is my world, and even though I could have died, I wouldn't change a thing!
