Nevaeh Raelynne's Birth Story
Submitted by mlkelly87
I was 19 years old and found out I was pregnant. I was excited—I always wanted kids, maybe not this early, but hey, it happens. I was told my due date was September 18, 2007. My pregnancy was so easy! I got sick once and no complications at all.
I went into my doctor's office on Tuesday and she said I was dilated to 1 cm. Four days later (Saturday), I was supposed to be at my cousin's house to watch her girls while she and her husband moved into their new house. I called her and told her I wasn't feeling very well. I was throwing up and couldn't get up from the bathroom floor.
I felt a little pressure but wasn't convinced it was contractions. All this began around 7:30 AM. At about 8:30, I told my daughter's dad it was time to go. When I got to the hospital, I was at 8 cm and they told me I could not have an epidural. At this point, I think my dad almost started crying, lol.
I was in the middle of a huge contraction and the nurse decided she was going to put my IV in, so she pinned my arm down and put it in. Then they told me to push. After about 30 minutes of pushing Nevaeh Raelynne was here at 9:23 AM on August 25, 2007.
She was almost four weeks early and weighed six lbs, 11 oz. Ten stitches later, and after everyone else held her, I held her for about a minute when they came and took her to NICU. They wanted to raise her blood sugar. Seven hours later, I had my beautiful baby girl in my arms.
Natural child birth was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Maybe because it went so fast and I was so worried about how big she was going to be and all the complications ... I just concentrated on getting her out and checked.
