Two's a Crowd
Submitted by AMDMommy
My daughter's birthday falls on Mother's Day this year. The one day designated for me, and she trumps it with her birthday. I know, I know, it's not her fault. It's mine (or really, my husband's). I guess we should have thought about this possibility when we had a little unprotected hanky-panky one early August afternoon, but who thinks of such things in the heat of passion?
So here we are. Every seven years, my daughter and I are going to share our special day. Instead of lying around being pampered with breakfast in bed, I'm going to be throwing a birthday party for 15 screaming little people. Instead of having a ME day, it's going to be a full-on SHE day. I shouldn't even bother getting a mani-pedi, because I'll just ruin my nails scrubbing frosting off the furniture.
But forget about me. The person I really worry about is my girl. She's going to get cheated. Like people who have birthdays on Christmas she's always going to get a "combo" gift when she's a mom. She won't get two days of annual indulgence, just one. Just like me. And I bet she'll be bummed about it, too.
