Last-Minute Preparing for Baby

You probably went through a mad nesting phase the last few weeks of your pregnancy and everything's good-to-go for your new roommate. But, if you slacked a bit, or if baby surprised you and came early, you might want to get your partner or a friend to make a run for some essentials:

Baby Supplies You don't need to have a closet full of clothes for baby on his birthday, but you'll want to make sure you have some newborn clothes essentials. You'll need plenty of diapers, a handful of onesies and sleepers, a few hats, a few pairs of socks, and some sweaters, blankets and towels.

Mama Supplies Make sure you've got yourself covered with all the gear you need for your postpartum care, as well. You'll probably want maxi (seriously, maxi) pads, hemorrhoid wipes or witch hazel pads (for hemorrhoid/perineal pain) and a good nursing bra and some nursing pads for breast milk leakage, if you're breastfeeding.

Food! If your fridge and cupboards aren't already stocked with easy-to-prepare foods, send one of those friends or relatives who keeps offering to help to the store with a grocery list in hand. If you just can't make that happen, no worries: there's always take out!
Despite what you may have thought, it turns out you and baby can get by without having a house full of gear. And you may even discover that you're so enamored with that little new person you just brought home, that you're perfectly happy to get by on love alone for a while. (Okay, and maybe some crackers, too.)
