How Do I Get My Toddler Off the Pacifier?

My daughter is 3.5 yrs old and she just wont give up her pacifier. She doesn't have it all day while she is in school, but the minute she gets home she starts her tantrums for it.
We have tried everything and she just won't give it up. Her dentist has said she needs to give it up because it's going to give her an overbite, but it's hard to see your child hysterically crying for something.
If anyone has any advice or tricks to help me please I beg you fill me in.
