Baby Care: My Son Loves His "Binks"

My son is 2 and my husband has been bugging me about his obsession about his "binks" (his pacifier). He wants me to get rid of it, but my son seems to really like them and they comfort him in ways I can't.
I think he'll tell me when he's ready to give them up, but at the same time, I don't want him to be 5 and still have it his mouth.
