Baby Milestones: Shoes for Pre-Walkers
My baby isn't walking yet. Should I start getting her used to shoes anyway?
In general, I would say no shoes until the child is walking. Prior to that, bare feet or socks for warmth are fine.
When a child wears shoes, they are only for protecting her feet as she is walking. Shoes should be soft and flexible to allow the child to continue to develop walking skills. Putting a child in shoes before she is walking may disrupt the normal development of the foot and arch.
