Newborn Baby Clothes: The Bare Necessities
You may have thought you had a wardrobe worthy of Project Runway, but before you know it, newborn baby clothes will be giving your fashion sense a run for its money. To get off to a good start, stock up on these newborn clothes basics.
- Four to five newborn nighties: These little gowns are great for midnight diaper changes because they don't have zippers or snaps to fumble with.
- Six onesies: Three newborn and three 3-6 months. More if you really hate doing laundry.
- Six sleepers or cotton one-piece rompers: Three newborn and three 3-6 months.
- Five to six extra-large receiving blankets. It's amazing how many of these you'll go through a day.
- Four bibs: A couple more if you're formula feeding or if your baby spits up a lot.
- Two to three baby blankets: These are great for covering the baby in the stroller or for laying on the floor to place the baby on.
- Four to five pairs of socks. He'll kick them off nonstop, but you want to have them.
- Two sweaters: Cardigans are easier than pullovers.
- Two hooded towel and washcloth sets.
- Two cotton hats. For the first few weeks, you'll want to keep her head covered.
- One snowsuit or bunting bag: Depending on the season or your climate.
