Baby Physical Development in 3-Month-Olds: Bath Safety
If you're wondering why your baby isn't sleeping through the night yet, it may be your definition of "through the night" that's causing the problem. Medically speaking, sleeping through the night means a five-hour stretch. So even if your little one is up after Letterman's monologue, but then sleeps until the Today show, he is in fact sleeping for a good, solid stretch. Now if only you could get him to sleep until The View.
What You're Thinking: "A nap. A nap would be good!"
Baby Milestones
- Some babies have reached the point in baby physical development when they can hold their heads up and keep it steady now. Sounds like a great excuse for some pictures. (As if you needed an excuse!)
- If your baby can hold his head up, try taking him on a tour of the house from his new vantage point. Walk around and look at things around the house and name what you see. "There's the lamp Mommy bought on sale at Target." "There's that hideous chair Daddy's had since his bachelor days." You get the idea. If he can't hold his head up yet, just give him a little extra support while he takes the tour.
- Give baby a little face time by looking at mirrors together. Laugh, smile, make funny faces and watch his reaction. (And don't worry, he's laughing at himself, not that spit-up in your hair.)
Mommy Milestones
- You let your partner bathe the baby his way—and you didn't say a word.
- You finally figured out how to loosen the car seat straps ... in under 10 minutes.
- You moved your baby out of the bassinet in your bedroom and he's now in his crib, in his own room. And as a result, you're getting more exercise, because the move hasn't stopped you from checking on him 11 times a night.
- You survived your first explosive dirty diaper in public. And you learned why everyone keeps telling you to keep clean clothes for yourself in the diaper bag.
