Baby Physical Development in 4-Month-Olds: Music for Babies
Look at you! Ditching the yoga pants for jeans. Showering almost every day. And finally able to touch your boobs and wipe without wincing. Next thing you know you'll be wearing makeup, cleaning the house and having sex three times a week. (OK, twice a month. Let's not get ahead of ourselves!)
What You're Thinking: "I'm bringing sexy back!"
Baby Milestones
- Your little one may be able to follow an object all the way around the room at this point in baby's physical development. So the next time you feel like you're being watched as you break into an impromptu So You Think You Can Dance routine, it's probably because you are being watched!
- Encourage her tracking skills by getting her to follow an object 180 degrees. Of course, her favorite object is you, but toys and your partner work, too.
- Play a game of blowing bubbles and watch your baby look around to follow them everywhere. This doesn't necessarily have to be an outside activity, either. Blow a whole bunch, let them land on the bare floor, then break out the mop! Baby can practice her tracking skills while watching you clean.
Mommy Milestones
- Your iPod has been replaced by the baby monitor as the most used "entertainment" device in the house.
- You and your friends coordinated your single girl/working girl/mom schedules to finally come up with a girls' night out together (and have vowed to have a standing appointment for a night out together to make future scheduling less painful!).
- Your pre-pregnancy jeans are starting to look much better on you (at least one pair is), so you bought another pair in the same size.
- You made it through one day without any spit-up on your clothes (and you say you're not coordinated? It takes true dexterity to catch every drop before it gets on you!).
Home Front
Whether you have the voice of an American Idol or the voice of an American Idol reject, your baby doesn't think you're "pitchy" at all. In fact, most babies love pretty much any kind of music, so take advantage of your tot's forgiving musical ears and introduce her to all sorts of music for babies.
