I've never really heard my infant babble. Should I be worried?
Babies often start babbling between 6 and 10 months of age. While children younger than 6 months often don't babble, they should make "gooing" and "cooing" sounds early on. If your child isn't making "gooing" and "cooing" sounds by 6 months, you should ask your pediatrician to administer a hearing test. Abnormal hearing often affects a child's speech development. If the hearing test is normal, then your child should be evaluated by a speech therapist.
