Baby Physical Development: Failure to Thrive & Infant Growth Charts

My infant is below the fifth percentile for weight and above the 95th percentile for height. Should I worry about failure to thrive?

While extremes like this are unusual, your pediatrician can help you to assess what your baby needs to grow and thrive. In a case like this, your pediatrician needs to evaluate your baby's growth curve for length, weight and head circumference. Your child's doctor also should look at the baby's growth curves for the first 6 months of life, as well as the baby's diet. Careful evaluation of these factors can help you and your pediatrician determine if your baby is growing healthily and what you can do to help your baby gain weight, if necessary, for optimum baby physical development.
