Playgroups and Baby Classes

While we get that messy meals, diaper duty and laundry can cause a girl to reach for a daily uniform of sweatpants, don't let it happen (or you'll end up on What Not to Wear). And if you think wearing a gown and heels to fetch the mail is the way to stay out of a rut, we're here to say... well... not so much. Instead, let scheduled social outings give you a reason to leave your yoga pants in the drawer.

Playgroups and baby classes are a sure-fire way to make sure you get dressed to venture out at least once in a while.

Here are some tips to get you started (and get you out!):

Consider enrolling in a parent-and-me play or movement class. Not only will it offer your little one a chance to see other babies, it will also be a regular excuse for you to don pants with a zipper instead of elastic and talk with other parents (i.e., feel like an adult again).

KinderGym, MyGym and Gymboree offer stimulating programs appropriate for your baby's age and abilities. If there are none in your area, contact your local community center or search your local web pages to find a similar quality program and facility near you.

If you're not looking to fork out tuition money just yet, try getting a playgroup of your own together. You can all chip in for some baby 'n' me exercise videos or some interactive sing along/play along CDs. Host it at the house with the biggest playroom—everybody else brings the snacks!

What are you waiting for? Get dressed and get out!
