What age to start the ferber method?

Hi there can anyone tell me what age is ok to start the Ferber method? I have a 4 month old and he wakes up a few times a night but does not want a bottle.. he is gassy and he does have acid reflux and on zantac not sure if its time for him to learn to fall back asleep on his own? thanks
