Baby Sleep: Self-Soothing
Can I expect my infant to self-soothe back to sleep when he wakes up at night?
Children 4 months and older have the ability to learn how to be great sleepers and to sleep from 10.5 to 12 uninterrupted hours at night.
However, babies under 6 months may still need to be fed at least once in the night. To do this, parents can offer a "dream feed" before they (the parents) go to bed, gently rousing the baby to feed, then returning the baby to sleep. The baby should remain drowsy and fall right back to sleep without a problem.
